Το μεγαλύτερο και παλαιότερο ορυχείο χρωμίου στην Αλβανία βρίσκεται στην πόλη Μπουλκίζα, 45 χιλιόμετρα ανατολικά των Τιράνων. Εκεί εργάζονται πάνω από 600 εργάτες σε ένα ορυχείο που από το 1948 ως τη δεκαετία του ’90 ήταν κρατικό και αργότερα ιδιωτικοποιήθηκε περνώντας από πολλά χέρια (καναδικά, ρωσικά κι αυστριακά) για να καταλήξει από το 2013 στα χέρια του πλουσιότερου ολιγάρχη της Αλβανίας, Σαμίρ Μάνε.
